Eda Soylu, born in Istanbul, is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, and installation. Graduated from Rhode Island School of Design’13, her practice traces the inner language of space through a range of mediums and materials including concrete, brass, copper, flowers, paint, found objects and literature. Grounded in a refined and introspective approach, her work navigates the layered concept of belonging, often questioning how one inhabits and senses a space.
Known for her site-specific projects, Soylu creates works that respond intimately to their environments and to the personal narratives of those who move through them. Every project is a study in attentiveness. She not only explores the bond between the viewer and the act of dwelling, but also creates ephemeral atmospheres for the pieces to dwell in and for the viewer to experience.
Whether using raw materials or incorporating sensory fragments, she creates spaces where memory, touch, and absence linger - not only seen, but quietly felt. Guided by a keen spatial awareness, her installations respond to and animate their environments, transforming context into part of the work itself.
Her research exists in a fluid space between art and poetry, where form meets language, and material becomes a metaphor. Through this poetic dialogue, Eda Soylu invites the audience to slow down, reflecting on the depths of their emotions.
